Time takes its toll on paint, and many houses require a decent amount of prep work before applying any paint. This extra prep work involves heavy scraping to remove any peeling paint and possibly caulk and exterior plaster work to handle any cracks or missing pieces of the exterior. Some painters will tell you it is unnecessary. Or, worse, we have had to clean up after painters who have said they will prep the damaged areas, but they don't. Instead they just throw paint on top of all those years of weather beaten exterior. That kind of deceit doesn't fly with us.
